About the Role
Under the supervision of the clinical nurse manager, clinical leader/charge, and/or registered nurse, you will perform receptionist and secretarial duties on the clinical unit, serving as a communication liaison.
Responsibilities
- Assure the medical record is adequately supplied and in proper order (e.g., prepare charts for admission, update patient information daily).
- Prioritize requests for services and perform tasks in a timely manner.
- Maintain workstation equipment, office supplies, and knowledge of new technology; keep the workstation organized and clean.
- Obtain supplies via phone and online ordering; place calls and work orders to other departments as needed.
- Transcribe and/or enter written physician orders, complete necessary forms and requisitions, and communicate all orders approved/reviewed by RN.
- Place and maintain manual orders and print appropriate downtime forms as needed.
- Answer telephones and provide information/messages to patients and medical staff professionally and respectfully.
- Maintain inventory of computers and other equipment; troubleshoot low-level computer/equipment issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Handle patient paperwork, discharges, admissions, and arrange transportation services for patient appointments and tests.
- Demonstrate office skills such as organizing, filing, and scheduling.
- Maintain required department confidentiality and abide by HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED (or equivalent).
- Preferred active CNA license when required for the unit.
- Basic computer experience required; experience in a clerical role preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to learn through on-the-job training.
- Must read, write, or speak English.
- Basic computer skills with word processing and spreadsheet programs (e.g., Word, Excel).
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to meet department needs.
Schedule
Full Time/Days. Monday - Friday.
