About the role

The Unit Clerk/Monitor Technician at NorthBay Healthcare is responsible for ongoing monitoring and analysis of cardiac rhythms under the direction and supervision of a licensed, registered nurse. They also provide general clerical and reception duties, assist patients, families, visitors, and colleagues, and contribute to the provision of quality nursing care.

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing monitoring and analysis of cardiac rhythms
  • Providing assistance to patients, families, visitors, and colleagues
  • Supporting the mission, vision, values, and expectation of excellence of the organization
  • Contributing to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Course in medical terminology preferred
  • AHA or equivalent CPR certification within 3 months of date of hire
  • Telemetry certification within 3 months of date of hire
  • Previous unit clerk or monitor technician experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Computer skills and proficiency with medical terminology/abbreviations
  • High level of initiative and independent work skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in care for patients in the following age groups: geriatric, adult, young adult, adolescent, or pediatric

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.
