About the role

The Unit Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support in the CV Operating Room, primarily working weekends. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of secretarial/office experience, and prior health care experience or medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt and personalized service to all patients, answering the nurse call system, and facilitating effective patient care.
  • Coordinates requests to Facilities Management/Maintenance and Biomed, rounds through the unit, and assists with calls to physicians and other floors.
  • Monitors and addresses noise levels, reports observations, and ensures patient privacy and safety.
  • Maintains unit work flow, paperwork, and supplies, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to department standards.
  • Assists with patient and staffing needs, including float assignments within the service line or hospital.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of secretarial/office, college/vocational training, or patient care experience
  • Prior health care experience and/or medical terminology preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
  • Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot various equipment
  • Highly proficient computer application skills

Qualifications

  • BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
