RN Supervisor - Operating Room - Weekend days

Responsibilities

• Supervises, assesses, plans, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates patient care and staff development using the nursing process and evidence-based information.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission, and critical goals of the organization into job performance.
• Assists the Clinical Director in managing the unit's assigned staff and patient population, providing direct patient care according to unit/program needs, and collaborating with physicians on the medical plan of care.
• Oversees staff to ensure adequate patient care, including hiring, onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching, and developing employees to align with organizational goals.
• Establishes or contributes to care plans, including administering medication, managing IV lines, delivering therapies, observing patients, and consulting with healthcare clinicians.
• Ensures compliance with policies and financial stewardship by maintaining department budget integrity.
• Serves as a resource to staff, patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and visitors to improve patient experience, clinical outcomes, and promote a healthy work environment.
• Teaches patients and families about illness/injury management, post-treatment care, nutrition, exercise, and medication self-administration.
• Facilitates inter- and intra-departmental collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
• Participates in policy revisions, committees, and goal-setting for the unit.
• Contributes to staff recruitment and retention through mentorship, education, and fostering peer relationships.
• Coordinates educational and professional activities for department/unit needs.
• Conducts regular rounds with physicians, patients, or families to enhance quality practice and patient experience.
• Utilizes the nursing process and evidence-based practice to evaluate and improve patient care plans.
• Initiates and supports quality improvement initiatives while using resources efficiently.
• Directs staff in applying the nursing process and coordinates patient care to promote independent functioning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

All RN staff with direct responsibility for stroke patients must have knowledge of:

• Stroke symptoms and warning signs.
• Protocols and pathways for identifying, evaluating, and managing stroke patients.
• NIHSS Stroke Alert activation and protocol.
• Stroke quality indicators.
• Available stroke patient education materials and community resources.
• Educational requirements and Stroke Center website resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN, BScN) from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution (required).
• Legally licensed to work as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona (required).
• 2 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience (required).
• 3 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience (preferred).

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (required).
• Registered Nurse (RN) state licensure and/or compact state licensure (required).

Schedule

• Week 1: Every other weekend (Saturday 12-hour shift, Sunday 12-hour shift), plus Monday 12-hour shift.
• Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 12-hour shifts.
• No call required.
