About the role

The RN's practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. The RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served. The RN records patients' medical history and symptoms, helps perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications, and assists with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. The RN establishes or contributes to a care plan, teaches patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, and provides direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides.

Responsibilities

  • Collect health data systematically, prioritizing based on the patient’s immediate condition, and involving the family.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient care plans that are family-centered, developmentally and age-appropriate, and culturally relevant.
  • Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient’s condition and develop evidence-based plans of care for continuity.
  • Implement interventions, initiate treatments, medications, emergency, and resuscitative measures based on standing orders, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide nursing care to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs using a family-centered approach.
  • Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes and document observations, interventions, and monitoring data.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to ensure cost-effective, high-quality healthcare.
  • Assess one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional standards, statutes, and regulations.
  • Integrate ethical principles and cultural/diversity needs into practice.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families in care delivery.
  • Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care and participate in research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
  • Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care.
  • Precept new hires and students, assisting them in completing competency tasks.
  • Support efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Associates or Diploma in Nursing (BSN required within 60 months of hire unless 5+ years of RN experience).
  • 1+ year of RN experience (required for Float Positions).
  • >10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience.
  • BLS certification (unit-specific certification may also be required).
  • State of Arizona RN license (or compact state licensure).
  • National certification for unit-specific patient population (preferred).

  • $20,000 sign-on bonus available.

Schedule

  • 3x12-hour weekend day shift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
