Unisys OS 2200 Application Support Specialist
About the role
We’re looking for an OS 2200 Applications Support Specialist to join our team, providing critical support for a major manufacturing client's core business applications.
Responsibilities
- Help a team of specialists provide on-call response and support for the client's Unisys 2200 application environment.
- Follow and execute against customer-defined policies for incident escalation, change control, testing, and promotion into production.
- Perform monitoring of mainframe databases to ensure data integrity.
- Triage and assess incidents, distinguishing between systems software issues and application anomalies or defects.
- Implement approved corrections and coordinate with change control procedures for timely remedy installation.
- Contribute to the ongoing documentation and expansion of the knowledge base.
- Advise management on technical trends and potential impacts on the application environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in managing, servicing, and supporting OS 2200 applications in an enterprise environment.
- Familiarity with Unisys 2200 applications development and operations.
- Familiarity with the DMS-1100 database system and TIP transaction processing.
- Knowledge of OS 2200 development tools, operational utilities, networking, and cross-platform integration.
- Experience with the primary application technologies: COBOL and related development utilities. Experience with MASM (assembler) highly desirable.
- Understanding of job control using Executive Control Language (ECL).
- Ability to thrive under pressure to help remedy time-sensitive mission-critical issues.
- Great written and verbal communication skills, adapting comms as needed depending on the audience.
- Proficiency with data access methods, including DMS-1100, ISAM, and flat files.
Qualifications
- Nice-to-have familiarity with utilities related to development and operations: (SSG, CTS, DDP, FTP).
- Ability to troubleshoot integration points with diverse external systems, such as VAX Shop Floor, Oracle ERP, Unix, Web/Java, and Windows platforms.
Skills
- Working knowledge of Unisys 2200 applications development and operations.
- Familiarity with OS 2200 systems support principles.
- Knowledge of OS 2200 development tools, operational utilities, networking, and cross-platform integration.
- Experience with the primary application technologies: COBOL and related development utilities.
- Understanding of job control using Executive Control Language (ECL).

Pay
$100,000—$110,000 USD
Schedule
This role is subject to our Return to Office (RTO) policy. If you reside within a commutable distance of one of our office locations, you will be expected to work from the office a set number of days per week. The specific details, including the number of required office days, will be in accordance with the company’s then-current RTO policy, which is subject to change from time to time.
