About the role

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Road Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of equipment in the safest and most effective way to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty lines locations may feature large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil/gas-related equipment.

The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors as required by the job.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
• Conduct diagnostics and make repairs to minimize downtime
• Work on a variety of makes, models, and equipment, often in challenging remote locations
• Develop new skills for potential career tracks in service or operations management
• Work in a safety-focused environment as part of a collaborative team

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training desired
• 3-5 years of mechanic experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment, or specialty lines equipment (e.g., large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil/gas equipment) strongly preferred
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (CDL license may be required in some locations; must be at least 21 years of age)
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, including troubleshooting fundamentals
• Ability to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade, if needed
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) may be required based on location

Benefits eligibility begins on the first of the month following 30 days from your start date.

Pay

Hourly wage: $35.54 - $37.54 (depends on the agreed rate under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement for this location).
