About the role

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Road Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of equipment in the safest and most effective way possible to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty lines locations may feature large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil/gas-related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Conduct diagnostics and make repairs to minimize downtime.
• Work with a variety of equipment, including Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools, and specialty lines equipment (e.g., generators, pumps, HVAC, oil/gas equipment).

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training desired.
• 3-5 years of mechanic experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment, or specialty lines equipment (e.g., large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil/gas equipment) strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (CDL license may be required in some locations; must be 21 years of age where applicable).
• Ability to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade may be required.

Skills

• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) may be required based on location needs.

Physical Demands

• Bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching.
• Lifting 50 pounds or more.
• Working indoors and outdoors as required by the job.

Benefits eligibility begins on the first of the month following 30 days from your start date.

Pay

Hourly wage: $30.99 - $32.99 (depends on the agreed rate under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement for this location).

Schedule

• 12-25 vacation days depending on years of service.
