About the Role
The Union Custodial Technician maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming Arkansas Union for students, staff, tenants, and visitors. They perform daily cleaning, support facility operations, and deliver excellent customer service to ensure the building is operational, comfortable, and inviting.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed cleaning of restrooms, offices, classrooms, lounges, meeting rooms, entrances, elevators, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, buff, wax, dust mop, vacuum, and disinfect high-touch surfaces.
- Maintain carpets, windows, walls, and fixtures.
- Respond to spills, handle waste disposal, and sanitize containers.
- Operate custodial equipment and manage custodial supplies.
- Respond to work requests and facility issues.
- Assist with room resets and building readiness for events.
- Conduct inspections and communicate via work orders and email.
- Handle locking and unlocking of areas as needed.
- Follow safety protocols for chemicals and biohazards.
- Remain flexible and dependable during events, weather, or staffing shortages.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance.
- Create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Requirements
- Ability to effectively communicate to perform job duties.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a large, high-traffic public building around large crowds.
- Ability to use cleansers and other agents to clean floors and furniture.
- Ability to use housekeeping cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize assignments.
- Ability to perform repetitive manual work.
Qualifications
- Minimum: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
- Preferred:
- Experience in the custodial field.
- Experience working in an environment where young adults are present.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment operation and maintenance.
Pay
$31,200 (Commensurate with education and experience).
Schedule
Night Shift (United States of America).
