Unified Communications Administrator - Senior

This role involves developing and implementing unified communications solutions tailored to organizational needs, focusing on scalability, security, and performance. You will install, monitor, and maintain systems encompassing VoIP, video conferencing, instant messaging, and collaborative platforms, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive unified communications solutions tailored to organizational needs, focusing on scalability, security, and optimal performance.
- Install and set up unified communications systems, including VoIP, video conferencing, instant messaging, and collaborative platforms.
- Monitor and manage the performance and stability of unified communications infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Conduct routine maintenance, updates, and security patches to maintain continuous, optimal operation.
- Integrate unified communications systems with other IT components, such as network infrastructure, Active Directory, and cloud services.
- Implement security protocols to safeguard communication channels, data, and endpoints, adhering to security standards and regulations.
- Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot communication-related issues, and offer training as needed.
- Develop and update comprehensive documentation for unified communications systems, including configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to acquire hardware, software, and services, managing vendor relationships for timely delivery and quality.
- Create and uphold disaster recovery plans and procedures to maintain business continuity in the event of system failures.
- Adhere to safety and quality policies, including completing all required training and participating in emergency response tasks.
Requirements
- Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or the ability to acquire Top Secret/SCI.
- At least 4 years of telecommunications technical experience installing, administering, and upgrading Cisco Unified Collaboration appliances.
- Experience troubleshooting converged networks leveraging Cisco UC capabilities to interconnect Cisco, Tandberg, and Polycom endpoints, gateways, and teleconference bridge products.
- Ability to independently deploy and maintain server-based and router-based dial plans, and manage Cisco UC appliances.
- Experience configuring Cisco routers as VoIP gateways and strong understanding of Cisco IOS 12.X/15.X command syntax.
- Ability to troubleshoot end-to-end performance issues associated with voice and video conferences involving IP and ISDN networks.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project, and Visio.
- Exceptional attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Must possess a current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification and one of the following 8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certifications:
- Level II: CCNA Security, GISCP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP
- Level III: CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (minimum education requirement).
- 4 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field.
- Preferred: Foundational knowledge or experience with Unified Messaging systems, audio conference bridge systems, voice circuits, and crypto technologies for voice systems.
Schedule
- 40-hour work week with shift work; shifts vary:
- Days: 0630 – 1500
- Swings: 1430 – 2300
- Mids: 2230 – 0700
- Sunday through Saturday.
- Overtime may be required during critical peaks or last-minute requests.
- Travel: 5-10% primarily within 75 miles.
Pay
$100,000 - $130,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable laws.
