Unified Communications Administrator
About the Role
As a Telecom Associate at Arizona State University, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the ASU ZOOM phone system by responding to and completing unified communications tickets and requests in a fast-paced and goal-driven environment. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to understand the ZOOM phone system, clearly communicate its capabilities to customers, and complete general tickets in a timely manner.
You will work with both technical and non-technical individuals across many departments and schools at Arizona State University, fostering a sense of belonging and cultivating a relational, visionary, and empowering culture. This position emphasizes authenticity and compassion while advancing our organizational values.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a general understanding of telephony standards and equipment, including cabling, wiring, and terminations.
- Gather essential information from departments for call queues, shared lines, user creation requests, and troubleshooting minor ZOOM phone issues.
- Maintain telephone documentation related to moves, adds, and changes within the ASU telephone, cabling, and wiring systems.
- Provide timely updates and status to customers regarding requests and tickets.
- Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve unit efficiency and performance.
- Foster a positive culture, uphold organizational values, and champion engagement in all forms.
- Collaborate across teams and actively participate in Enterprise Technology (ET) and ASU events and programs.
Work Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting with extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and computer use. The role may require standing for varying lengths of time, walking moderate distances, occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds. Ability to quickly change priorities and resolve conflicts is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to see and hear, are required to perform essential functions.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in configuring call queues, shared lines, and phone users within the ZOOM Phone communications platform.
- Completion of a two-year technical training program in electronics, communications, telephony, or industrial technology.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction across departments.
- Comprehensive understanding of phone features and functionalities.
- Proficiency in configuring and administering telecommunications hardware.
- Proficiency in telecommunications and data cabling standards.
- Proficiency in administering phone systems and provisioning emergency location information (e911).
- Ability to read, comprehend, and generate technical manuals and telephony documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence.

Pay
$23.37 - $28.84 per hour, depending upon experience.
