Unemployment Insurance Investigator Specialist
Full-time position with two vacancies located in Oklahoma City, OK. Primary working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. FLSA status: Exempt.
Pay
Annual salary up to $49,405.63, based on education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Processes and completes assigned crossmatch cases within established timeframes to ensure timely and accurate investigation outcomes.
- Reviews and analyzes documentation to identify and calculate overpayments in accordance with applicable laws and agency guidelines.
- Interviews claimants and employers to obtain necessary information and documentation related to overpayments, fraud investigations, and adjudication processes.
- Responds to messages and inquiries from claimants and employers in a timely, respectful, and professional manner, maintaining the integrity of the agency’s customer service standards.
- Evaluates evidence and issues determinations regarding whether a claimant willfully and intentionally committed fraud in obtaining unemployment benefits, in compliance with agency policy and procedures.
- Records all actions, findings, communications, and determinations in the appropriate case management systems to ensure clear audit trails and compliance with documentation standards.
- Maintains confidentiality of claimant and employer information in accordance with data protection policies and applicable regulations.
- Compiles and organizes relevant documentation and case notes in preparation for appeals, providing clear and comprehensive summaries for hearing officers or supervisors.
- On-site attendance is required, as the role involves direct interaction with staff, clients, and on-site office resources.

Requirements
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing applicable programs; accounting principles and theories; financial statements and reports; accounting ledgers and journals; organizational theories and functions; computer technology relating to accounting systems; and preparation of cases for legal proceedings.
- Ability to prepare basic reports; review and analyze financial information; establish and maintain effective working relationships; analyze and resolve complex situations; conduct several projects simultaneously; express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; serve as an expert witness in administrative hearings and district or federal court; perform highly independent work; make independent decisions; and analyze and resolve highly detailed and complex accounting and financial problems.
- Proficiency in using OESC’s standard software (Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Teams), and the Internet, as well as the ability to learn other software as needed.
- Capability to lift, carry, and move objects of up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications
Level II: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or public administration plus one year of experience in professional-level auditing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting professional-level public administration, auditing, or accounting experience for each year of the required bachelor’s degree.
Level III: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or public administration plus four years of experience in professional-level auditing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting professional-level public administration, auditing, or accounting experience for each year of the required bachelor’s degree.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
