Qualifications
- A Doctor of Jurisprudence degree
- A license to practice law issued by any state
- A valid driver's license
- No disbarment from the practice of law
Responsibilities
- Stay current with relevant federal and state statutes, case law, rules and regulations, and Employment Security Division policies and procedures
- Prepare for hearings by reviewing electronic case files and applicable laws
- Call hearings to order, identify participants, explain procedures, administer oaths, ensure proper progression of hearing, and protect due process rights
- Write decisions with express findings of fact and legally supported conclusions of law, determining whether to affirm, modify, or set aside Agency Decisions
- Train other unemployment hearing officers and perform other duties as needed
