Argo Group is an underwriter of specialty insurance products in the property and casualty market, offering a full line of products and services designed to meet the unique coverage and claims-handling needs of businesses.

About the role

This position actively participates in the production underwriting, marketing, and processing of assigned lines of business. The role may have responsibility over an assigned region or niche area and will work onsite (5 days per week) at our Chicago office location.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in achieving monthly and annual profitability and production goals for the assigned group.
  • Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions.
  • Ensure marketing initiatives are achieved and consistent communication of products and services is provided to brokers.
  • Develop existing broker relations and establish new relationships in targeted territories to attract business opportunities.
  • Actively participate in client and broker meetings as required.
  • Stay informed of evolving economic and insurance marketplace trends, legal developments, and underwriting concerns.
  • Participate in special projects and assignments as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 8 years of underwriting experience, with experience in underwriting and marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word; experience with Imageright is beneficial.
  • Excellent organization skills, strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a professional attitude.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with various levels of the organization to cross-sell or address processing requirements.
  • Demonstrated contribution to underwriting profit.
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for niche products and potential agent opportunities.
  • Experience delivering presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing an annual department business plan.
  • Proven skills in employee development, mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Recognized as a leader within the organization, providing advice and guidance to others.
  • Ability to work closely with various support systems and apply basic programming tactics.
  • Ability to travel as needed, and with short notice.

Pay

Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco pay range: $138,924 – $191,148. The base salary range is for hires in these geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
