Underwriting Intern

About the role

Tokio Marine HCC – A&H Group, a leading provider of medical stop‑loss insurance for over 50 years, is seeking a junior intern in Risk Management/Insurance. The position is located onsite in Plano, TX and offers a hands‑on experience in underwriting Medical Stop Loss business.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in the regional office to observe how Medical Stop Loss business is underwritten.
• Meet with regional leaders to gain insight into underwriting processes.
• Learn about other departments and the roles they play in underwriting.
• Acquire first‑hand knowledge that could lead to a placement after graduation.

Requirements

• At least 60 completed college credit hours from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program related to Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Risk Management.
• Preferred: Ability to apply knowledge of underwriting and/or actuarial principles, practices, and procedures to assigned project work.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
