Underwriting Field Inspector

Information Providers, Inc. is seeking a part‑time 1099 Underwriting Field Inspector in Sparta, NJ. This flexible field position allows you to work independently, manage your own schedule, and spend your time out in the field rather than behind a desk. Responsibilities

• Dispatch daily from home with no central office reporting required.
• Conduct on‑site inspections of residential and commercial properties.
• Document key features and conditions of each property.
• Capture clear photographs and identify potential hazards or underwriting concerns.
• Gather critical details needed for accurate risk evaluations.
• Compile thorough underwriting survey reports to guide risk decisions.
• Travel throughout the service area using reliable transportation.
• Complete reports and administrative tasks from a home office.
• Adhere to normal operating hours (8:00 AM – 8:00 PM or dusk, Monday‑Saturday) and avoid surveys after 8:00 PM, on Sundays, or holidays unless requested by the policyholder.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in any of the following areas is preferred:
  • Insurance inspection or underwriting inspections
  • Property appraisal or real estate
  • Home inspection services
  • Claims adjusting
  • Construction or commercial contracting
  • Loss control or related field services
  • Emergency services or first‑responder roles
• Thrives in an independent work environment.
• Organized and production‑focused while managing multiple assignments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound judgment, adaptability, and resourceful problem‑solving.
• Comfortable using measuring equipment, smartphones, Microsoft Office, and Windows‑based computers.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the service area.
• Enjoys working outdoors and from a home office while completing reports.
• Education not required; practical experience, reliability, and willingness to learn are valued.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Pay

Competitive wage of $20–$28 per billable hour.

Schedule

Flexible 1099 position with normal operating hours from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM (or dusk, whichever is earlier), Monday through Saturday. No surveys are conducted after 8:00 PM, on Sundays, or on holidays unless specifically requested.
