Underwriter I, Primary Casualty

About the Role

Argo Group currently has a challenging opportunity for an Underwriter in their Primary Casualty line of business. This is a production underwriting position responsible for marketing, underwriting, and processing assigned lines of business. This is a 100% in-office position; candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions.
• Ensure marketing initiatives are achieved and consistent communication of products and services is provided to appointed brokers.
• Assist regional manager and product leaders in further developing existing broker relations and establishing new relationships to attract business opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objectives.
• Actively participate in client and broker meetings, as required.
• Use market contacts to bring in new business, gather and share market intelligence, and cross-sell various products.
• Participate in special projects and assignments as requested.
• Travel as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university plus at least one year of underwriting or equivalent experience and education.
• Strong computer skills; proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Excellent organization skills, strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and evaluate the accuracy of data and information quickly.
• Strong customer service and teamwork skills with a professional attitude.
• Ability to interact and communicate with various levels of the organization to cross-sell or address processing requirements.
• Ability to work independently with guidance and procedures provided.

Pay

NYC Pay Range: $70,788 – $116,280. The base salary range is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor.
