About the Role

This underwriting position is designed for an individual with 2+ years of E&S (excess & surplus lines) experience writing small to medium hazard property & casualty package insurance. Knowledge of ISO coverage forms and individual account underwriting is required for hazard analysis, rating, pricing, and form selection.

Responsibilities

  • Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing, and servicing.
  • Adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Operate within written authority grant and make referrals to Home Office Underwriting as required.
  • Collaborate closely with the E&S Management team.
  • Develop and implement the territory business plan and share accountability with the team in meeting territory goals.
  • Actively plan and participate in industry events such as association conventions.
  • Provide professional, timely, and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross-departmental staff.
  • Provide pertinent information and guidance to support staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) plus years of E&S (excess & surplus lines) experience.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard company forms to properly underwrite risk.
  • Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of commercial casualty insurance coverage, risk selection, methods, and pricing.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data and make informed, calculated risk decisions.
  • Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required.

Qualifications

CPCU, ASLI, or CIC designation preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay

The expected salary range for this role is USD $53,300.00 – USD $80,000.00 per year. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, education, training, the scope and responsibilities of the role, as well as market and business considerations.
