About the role
The Underground Residential Distribution (URD) Instructor at Oneonta, NY, US is responsible for providing engaging instruction, administering tests, and evaluating student progress in the field of Career and Technical Training.
Responsibilities
- Provides students with industry-recognized instruction and training.
- Develops and prepares lessons; recommends curricula changes and supplemental materials.
- Administers and corrects tests; logs and maintains progress and attendance.
- Selects and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Moves about the room to tutor, coach, evaluate, and assist students as needed.
- Motivates and counsels students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.
- Evaluates and supervises students in an on-the-job training experience.
- Participates in providing hands-on activities for students in the career preparation program.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and content field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills.
- A high energy level and ability to engage students.
- Ability to quickly learn Job Corps methodologies and strategies.
- Ability to use different methods and mediums in delivering course material.
- Ability to effectively respond to student issues as they arise.
- Proficient in the use of common computer software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
Qualifications
- Certified, licensed, or accredited by New York State or by an accredited professional trade organization: industry-recognized certification.
- Knowledge of URD Systems: Radial feed, Loop Feed, Double feed as well as their components, Cables, Splices, and Terminations, know procedures for URD System Maintenance, Knowledge of Performing Checks, URD System Maintenance, Isolations of Various Components of URD System, Knowledge of Potheads, Handholes, Switchgear, Transformers, and Protective Devices, Switching Devices, Trouble & Fault Locations, Secondary Connections, Parallel Service, Phase Rotation, Switching & Testing Equipment, Operating Procedures, Hard Volt Testing, etc.
- Valid New York State drivers license.
