The Core collaborates with investigators to design, generate, and characterize transgenic and genetically modified models for a wide range of scientific questions. Undergraduate assistants have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects and gain exposure to cutting-edge methods used in modern biomedical research. Role Description This full-time, remote Undergraduate Research Assistant role supports research activities related to transgenic and genetically engineered models. Day-to-day tasks may include conducting literature reviews, assisting with experimental design, organizing and maintaining research records, and helping to prepare reports, presentations, and data summaries. The role involves remote collaboration with research staff through virtual meetings, email, and shared digital workspaces, as well as careful documentation of methods and results. The assistant will work under the guidance of senior team members, follow established protocols, and adhere to institutional standards for research integrity and data security. QualificationsCandidates should possess strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret scientific information and experimental results.Candidates should possess effective communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication for research documentation and teamwork.Candidates should possess research skills, such as conducting literature reviews, organizing references, and supporting study design.Candidates should possess laboratory-related skills, including familiarity with basic experimental concepts and standard research practices, even when applied in a remote-support context.Candidates should possess data analysis skills, including handling datasets, using basic statistical or spreadsheet tools, and presenting findings clearly.Additional beneficial qualifications include attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently in a remote setting, and interest in genetics, molecular biology, or related fields.Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate coursework in biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
