Research Assistant (Undergraduate/Graduate)

Student Division, Academic Affairs Department, Engineering. Position Type: Student.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, construction, and testing of an experimental apparatus.
• Run computational simulations to replicate and analyze experimental results.
• Contribute to the development of software tools for sensitivity analysis and data processing.
• Prepare technical reports summarizing results, methods, and progress.
• Support the preparation of posters and presentations, with opportunities to present findings at national conferences.

Required Qualifications

• Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong interest in experimental methods, numerical modeling, and/or software development.
• Basic proficiency in programming (Python, MATLAB, or similar) preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with engineering simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.) is a plus.

Pay

$14.49 per hour for undergraduate students; $20.00 per hour for graduate students.
