Unclaimed Property Specialist 2 - Hybrid
Duties/Responsibilities
- Investigate, process, and validate claims of ownership for unclaimed property following program rules, regulations, and legal requirements
- Communicate complex information to claimants and holders; determine property ownership status
- Conduct initial and follow-up interviews and investigations using deductive reasoning and independent judgment
- Review documents such as notarized affidavits, powers of attorney, wills, trusts, contracts, court documents, corporate resolutions, and minutes
- Gather and analyze information from varied sources; research records and reports to locate properties
- Interpret and apply statutes, regulations, and agency policy
- Approve payment of claims as warranted
- Oversee and coordinate claim workloads, ensuring compliance with statutory, agency, and claimant time and quality standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Experience with Claim Processing and Data Entry
- Strong investigative, analytical, and deductive reasoning skills
- Excellent communication skills; ability to explain complex legal/ownership information clearly
- Proficient with standard office and computer skills, Google Suite, MS Office Suite
- Able to learn and adapt to new computer systems and software
- Organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently with prudence and discretion
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Prior experience in unclaimed property, probate, or legal document review
- Proficiency in office environments and document management systems
