Ultrasound Technologist - Sound Health Imaging
Job Summary
Verifies patient identification and correlates exam with clinical history and presentation. Explains examination and procedures to patients and addresses concerns. Performs ultrasonic imaging, measurements, and documentation. Prepares and obtains supplies for procedures. Ensures patient safety and follows protocols. Participates in patient scheduling, CQI/QA, and department projects.
Shift Times
Monday through Friday - 8:30am to 5pm
Status
Full-time (1.0 FTE)
Patient Safety
Each staff member is responsible for overall patient safety and preventing hazards.
Patient Schedules
Absorbs add-on exams into daily schedules as per referring physicians and patients.
Protocols
Staff may assist in developing, implementing, changing, and updating protocols.
CQI & QA
Participates in CQI and QA yearly plans and activities (approved by Director).
Patient Experience
Improves patient experience and satisfaction scores for the modality and department.
Staffing & Scheduling
Assists in creating staffing schedules that meet physician and patient needs, and adheres to productivity standards and budgets.
PACS
Ensures timely and quality image transfers to PACS and collaborates with the PACS Administrator on issues.
Staff Training/Orientation
Participates in training new employees and assists in developing new hire orientation functions.
Staff Development
Teaches or improves skills to co-workers.
Regulatory Compliance
Trains and prepares for compliance with DNV, CMS, and other regulatory agencies. Practices within defined scopes set by CMS, ARDMS, SDMS, ARRT, and ASRT.
Equipment Maintenance
Communicates issues affecting equipment operation and makes necessary vendor or biomedical calls for support.
Department Projects
Participates in ACR accreditation, Quality and Performance Improvement Initiatives, and promotes the department to physicians, community, and patients.
Inventory
Assists in ordering and managing inventory.
Modality Liaison
Communicates positively and professionally with other modalities, nursing, ED, scheduling, admitting, physicians, and transporters to ensure smooth patient care.
Positive, Encouraging, Promotional
Models positive interactions, encourages actions, and promotes co-workers, hospital, and medical group.
Other Assignments
Performs other tasks as requested by leadership team.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved School of Ultrasound technology
- Knowledge in all aspects of ultrasonography, including vascular, abdominal, OB/GYN, and interventional work
- Ability to work with all ultrasound equipment competently
- Registered by the ARDMS in either Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular (strongly preferred)
- Additional compensation for needed registries, as determined by the Director of Diagnostic Imaging and People Services
- Current BLS required
