Role Description
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This full-time, on-site role in Moultrie, GA includes:
- Preparing and positioning patients
- Operating ultrasound equipment
- Ensuring accurate imaging for radiology and clinical teams
- Reviewing patient histories
- Explaining procedures
- Maintaining a safe, respectful environment
- Monitoring patient comfort and condition
- Documenting findings
- Maintaining equipment
- Adhering to infection control and safety standards
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Taking call when assigned or necessary to maintain department’s ability to provide 24 hour service
- Performing all functions associated with Ultrasound Technologist duties
- Being responsible for any and all paperwork assigned
Qualifications
- Certification or eligibility with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in one or more specialties (e.g., abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology, vascular)
- Foundational knowledge of medicine and radiology principles as they relate to diagnostic ultrasound procedures
- Experience or training in vascular ultrasound imaging and interpretation of vascular studies
- Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography or radiologic technology program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow clinical protocols, and commitment to patient safety and privacy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams
- Ability to stand for extended periods, position patients safely, and handle equipment in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Prior experience as an Ultrasound Technologist in a hospital or clinical environment is preferred
- Responsible for knowing anatomy, physiology, and pathology in order to document on scanned images to be transferred into PACS for Radiologist interpretation
- Willing to teach, assist, and observe student technologists with the performance of exams and evaluate when needed
- Explains test to patient while instructing and assisting patient in position for the exam
- Possess manual dexterity in order to manipulate transducers as well as cleaning the transducers and providing adequate care to maintain equipment in working order
