About the role

The Senior Sonographer proficiently operates imaging equipment and software, primarily ultrasound equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include serving as a lead when direct leadership is unavailable, acting as a resource, and assisting in training. The role requires a thorough understanding of imaging equipment and procedures while ensuring patient safety and maintaining imaging standards. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for providing optimal care.

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound and other imaging equipment to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment.
• Serve as a lead and resource in the absence of direct leadership.
• Assist in training and mentoring other sonographers.
• Maintain patient safety and adhere to imaging standards and protocols.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Adjust protocols as needed and ensure quality assurance and accreditation standards are met.

Requirements

• Graduate of a school of Sonography with completed required clinical hours.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
• Certifications/Registries: ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI, plus 4 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the work area OR 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications and 7 years of applicable experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• In Arkansas, ARDMS-RVT, CCI-RVS, or ARRT-VS may be required within 12 months of hire/transfer depending on role scope.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
