About the role
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer responsible for performing ultrasound exams following departmental standards and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Review consultation requests
- Communicate with Radiologists
- Complete documentation
- Greet and explain procedures to patients
- Operate ultrasound equipment
- Assist with US-guided biopsies and drainages
- Ensure patient consent
- Verify exam prerequisites
- Evaluate lab values
- Manage supplies
- Perform safety inspections and quality assurance
- Evaluate scan quality
- Demonstrate anatomy
- Add on exams when possible
- Verify correct order entry
- Maintain compliance with accreditation standards
- Recognize emergencies, initiate code procedures, and administer first aid or CPR if necessary
Qualifications
- Minimum one year hospital experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Confidentiality awareness
- Ability to handle crisis situations
- Customer service skills
- Experience with Electronic Health Records
Skills and Credentials
- ARDMS-RDMS certification
- BLS certification
Education
Associates Degree in a related field
