Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams using appropriate imaging equipment.
- Verify patient identity and review medical records for exam suitability.
- Interview patients to obtain medical history, assess risk factors, and explain procedures, including potential side effects and follow-up care.
- Set up equipment, acquire images as per protocol, review and document findings, and communicate data to radiologists.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies.
- Provide post-care instructions to patients.
- Participate in process improvement activities to enhance quality of care, patient flow, and satisfaction.
- Provide imaging education to residents, students, and new staff.
- Take call/standby as required.
Requirements
- Registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography (S).
- Complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) training by end of orientation.
- Obtain specialty registration within 12 months of employment.
- Strong communication and technical skills.
- Ability to respond to emergencies.
