About the Role

The ultrasound technologist operates ultrasound equipment to produce quality images of designated portions of the body under direct physician orders and in accordance with standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include accomplishing patient care in a timely, professional, efficient, and safe manner, assessing emergency situations accurately, and functioning independently without constant supervision to produce superior quality imaging studies.

The Ultrasound Technologist may perform invasive and non-invasive procedures on a variety of patients, utilize sterile techniques, and assist physicians as necessary. Depending on department needs, the role may require working in additional ARDMS specialty certifications, including but not limited to: Abdomen (AB), Vascular (RVT), Breast (BR), Fetal Echo (FE), Neurosonology (NE), Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN), or Pediatric Sonography (PS).

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related profession (preferred).
• ARDMS or ARRT Registry in Ultrasound at time of hire (required).
• Vascular Ultrasound Registry from ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI must be obtained within 12 months of hire for positions at independent diagnostic testing facilities (IDTFs).
• BCLS certified (required).
• ARDMS in multiple specialties (preferred).
• Must complete required CEUs to maintain certification and participate in section QA programs.
• 12 months of previous ultrasound experience (preferred).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to think and act independently.
