About the Role
Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform physician-defined routine and specialized ultrasound procedures. This role involves operating ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality images while maintaining a safe environment. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for experienced technologists.
Responsibilities
- Performs ultrasound procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation.
- Ensures examination orders are complete and contain relevant clinical information; conducts patient assessments and documents findings.
- Reviews examination images, synthesizes results, and prepares preliminary findings for physician interpretation.
- Documents incidental findings that may impact patient safety or care.
- Demonstrates competency in critical thinking, including addressing age-specific patient needs.
- Manages supply charging, stock maintenance, and vendor ordering.
- Operates and maintains ACR-accredited ultrasound equipment, ensuring high-quality images.
- Screens and identifies patients, obtains medical history, and verifies accurate consents.
- Performs quality imaging procedures, assists physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures, and follows aseptic techniques.
- Provides patient instructions and education to ensure cooperation and minimize anxiety during exams.
- Positions patients safely and comfortably for imaging, respecting their physical limitations.
- Addresses psychological and physical needs of patients during procedures.
- Completes required data entry, record maintenance, and statistical reporting.
- Adheres to policies, procedures, and safety standards; participates in annual education and quality improvement initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum education sufficient to meet licensure/certification standards at the time of issuance.
- Clinical training and certification appropriate to the specified modality.
- Three (3) years of clinical ultrasound experience.
- Must maintain ARDMS, ARRT (S), ARRT (BS), ARRT (VS), or CCI licensure.
- State licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.
