Primary Function
Responsible for providing quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the care needed to ensure patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform ultrasound examinations exercising judgment to recognize and record pathologies and abnormalities necessary to provide a diagnosis.
- Review patients medical records and clinical information to evaluate patients condition and determine the diagnostic information the physician is seeking.
- Summarize and document findings for radiologists and communicate with referring physicians, radiologists, nursing staff and other departments about the examination.
- Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.
- Assist specialty physicians in performing invasive procedures (e.g., amniocentesis and biopsies) by providing ultrasound guidance for needle entrance.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
- A graduate from an accredited Ultrasound program required.
- A minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required.
- CPR Certification required.
- RDMS required.
- RVT required (Certified Ultrasonographer position only).
