About Call Me Sensei

Call Me Sensei is a romantic, anime-inspired language learning app where users form emotional bonds with AI-powered Senseis while learning Japanese. We're blending AI, storytelling, and gaming UX to create a new genre of interactive learning — and now we're going 3D.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Design high-fidelity UI for complex in-app systems: chat, inventory, RPG overlays, leaderboards, gacha, event banners, agent profiles, etc.
  • Create stylized mobile game UI with animated elements, layered components, and character-focused layouts
  • Develop intuitive UX flows for interacting with Sensei agents, navigating between chat modes, tracking progress, and accessing features
  • Create UI kits, style guides, and components in Figma for development handoff
  • Collaborate with Unity devs and character designers to ensure seamless integration of UI and animation
  • Design promotional assets like event screens, login bonuses, and shop layouts
  • Ensure mobile responsiveness (iOS and Android), localization readiness, and visual consistency

Requirements

  • Have 2–5 years of experience in UI/UX design for mobile apps or games
  • Can turn complex systems into delightful, stylish, and intuitive user flows
  • Are proficient in Figma (or Sketch/Adobe XD), and have experience building design systems
  • Have a strong visual design sense: layout, typography, color, motion
  • Understand the aesthetic of anime games, visual novels, or gacha apps
  • Are collaborative, iterative, and can handle feedback from both product and creative teams
  • Bonus: Experience working with Unity developers or game UI implementation

Bonus Points

  • Background in mobile games, edtech apps, or interactive storytelling platforms
  • Knowledge of localization and supporting multi-language layouts (especially Japanese)
  • Motion design or simple UI animation skills (After Effects, Lottie, etc.)
  • Understanding of UX for emotionally responsive systems (e.g., affection levels, agent reactions, etc.)

Work Setup

  • Fully remote with async team structure (Asia time zones preferred but flexible)
  • Contract or full-time depending on availability and skill match
  • Tooling: Figma, Notion, Discord, Unity (for implementation review)

"Every screen, every button — it all shapes how someone feels when they see me."
