UHC - Ops Pharmacy Tech II

The Operations Pharmacy Technician II assists in most aspects of drug distribution that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. This role involves preparing unit-dose medications, delivering medications, and ordering and delivering drug supplies. Duties include reading physician orders/prescriptions, preparing medications for dispensing, communicating with patients or caregivers, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Prepares unit-dose medications and delivers them to patients or caregivers.
• Reads and prepares medications for dispensing, including unique dosage forms for pediatric and geriatric patients.
• Communicates with patients or caregivers to determine medication needs, schedules, and deliveries.
• Accurately prepares and delivers controlled substances and maintains necessary records.
• Takes inventory and analyzes patient-care area medication supplies, replacing outdated or deteriorated medications.
• Labels parenteral products appropriately and performs arithmetic calculations for usual dosage determinations.
• Maintains inventory and supplies in assigned pharmacy service areas.
• Answers telephones and directs calls to appropriate individuals.
• Ensures cleanliness and orderliness of pharmacy service areas and drug storage areas.
• Assists in the training of pharmacy technicians.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided (MD: Pharmacy Technician Student Permit or License, OH: Pharmacy Technician Trainee License or Certified/Registered License, PA: Pharmacy Technician Trainee or License, WV: Pharmacy Technician Trainee or License).
• Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) upon hire.
• Two (2) or more years of pharmacy-specific experience within 15 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or post-high school education in a science field of study.
• Graduate of a pharmacy technician training program.
• Remote Workers Only: Must hold Pharmacy Technician Trainee License or Pharmacy Technician License issued by state of residence.
