UG Mobile Maintenance Mechanic (Tech III - V)

About the role

You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work in a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment lubrication, field repair, and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment, diesel engines, and hydraulic systems.
• Work independently in a remote island setting.
• Assist with welding and fabrication tasks as well as changing tires on rubber tire equipment.
• Do workplace inspections assigned each morning and prioritize your work before starting.

Requirements

• 5 years minimum (heavy diesel) for mechanics.
• Safety is important. Every piece of equipment and each work area must be inspected before we start the day for your safety and the safety of your team.

Qualifications

The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing over 500 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Skills

Training first. Every hire is provided MSHA training in the first 4 days on the job. We also provide department-level training on not just what to do, but safety, as well.

We have a two-part interview process. If you are selected, our hiring manager will reach out to you via phone call to get to know you and your skill set a little better. Then, if you are selected to move forward, you will be invited to come for a site interview to ensure that we are a fit for you, and you are a fit for us.

Schedule

Working on a remote island and living in a mining camp environment away from home if you are not Juneau based. Departments have different schedules, you will be working a two week on/two week off schedule.
