UG Apprentice 1-8

Assist experienced underground utility crews with the installation, maintenance, and repair of various underground infrastructure components. This role involves learning foundational skills and safety protocols while supporting a range of construction activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with trenching, excavation, and backfilling operations using hand tools and basic equipment.
• Support the laying and connecting of pipes, conduits, and cables under direct supervision.
• Load and unload materials and tools at job sites.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage of equipment.
• Learn and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Operate small power tools and equipment as directed and trained.
• Perform general labor duties as assigned by crew leaders or supervisors.
• Participate in training and development programs to advance skills and knowledge.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Assist with site preparation and restoration tasks.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting heavy objects, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced personnel.
• Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record (preferred, may be required for some levels).
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of construction safety practices is a plus.
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
