Responsibilities

• Provides full scope of clinical patient care and services within the field of training, including diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventative care, and health maintenance.
• Works collaboratively with members of the healthcare team, including nursing, clerical, advanced practice providers, and UF Faculty.
• Reviews incoming reports (e.g., lab, x-ray, CT) and follows up in a timely manner.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
• Refers patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as needed.
• May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program or patient care unit.
• Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
• Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Participates in specified health promotion, education, and/or prevention programs as appropriate to the position.
• Engages in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical and operational meetings as requested.
• Assists in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice medicine in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes.
• Four years of appropriate experience (completion of a residency program may substitute for the required experience).

Qualifications

• Medical Degree – M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent.
• Board certification in the appropriate subspecialty (preferred).
• Completion of an accredited residency program (preferred).
• Certification/licensure in the state of Florida and Federal DEA Certification (preferred).

Health assessment required.
