UB Math Science - Summer Instructor (Temp)
Position Overview
Upward Bound Math Science Instructors are responsible for providing in-person instruction to college-bound high school students in specific topics/content areas during the on-campus six-week summer session (M-W June 1 - July 16, 2026).
Currently seeking instructors for the following subjects: Foreign Language, Math, Science, Composition, English Literature, and Reading.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare a syllabus, curriculum, activities/assignments, and assessments for subject areas.
- Prepare for and meet classes as assigned and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Participate in-service training sessions as scheduled.
- Evaluate and prepare reports of ongoing student progress.
- Complete student assessment forms.
- Request and assist in maintaining department equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices to provide injury and illness prevention for self and others.
- Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Experience Required
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in education or subject area, at least one (1) year of teaching experience at the high school level or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred
- Previous TRIO experience.
- Knowledge of best practices in teaching.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans to high school students preparing for college.
- Experience with inquiry-based hands-on learning experiences.
- Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population.
- Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred.
