UB Central Prep - Summer Instructor (Temporary)

Position Overview

The position is a temporary, part-time, hourly, and non-exempt staff position at Upward Bound Central Prep. It is a general schedule position, up to 10 hours per week between 9am - 4pm Monday - Wednesday, from June 1 – July 16, 2026.

Essential Job Functions

• Create a syllabus, curriculum, activities/assignments, and assessments for subject areas.
• Prepare for and meet classes as assigned and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Participate in-service training sessions as scheduled.
• Evaluate and prepare reports of ongoing student progress.
• Complete student assessment forms.
• Request and assist in maintaining department equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices to provide injury and illness prevention for self and others.
• Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Completion of a bachelor’s degree in education or subject area, at least one (1) year of teaching experience at the high school level or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous TRIO experience preferred.
• Knowledge of best practices in teaching.
• Experience developing and delivering engaging lesson plans to high school students preparing for college.
• Experience with inquiry-based hands-on learning experiences.
• Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
• Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population.
• Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred.
