UAF CLA Term Instructor of Social Work

About the role

The Term Instructor of Social Work is a full-time, nine-month, bipartite (teaching and service) faculty position within the University of Alaska Fairbanks, College of Liberal Arts, Social Work Department. This role supports the B.A. in Social Work degree, which is delivered through online asynchronous, distance-based Zoom, and hybrid modalities, including our rural-intensive cohort.

Responsibilities

• Teach three to four courses per semester—including SWK F103: Introduction to Social Work and upper-division 300-level major courses.
• Hold office hours appropriate to the courses taught.
• Recruit, advise, mentor, and support a diverse student population.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
• Engage in community and public service activities.
• Serve as faculty advisor for at least one student organization.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program and at least two years of post-MSW professional social work practice in human services, behavioral health, child welfare, or related community-based settings required.
• Experience with distance-education technologies and an understanding of multicultural and rural social work practice, particularly in ways that align with CSWE accreditation standards.
• A commitment to multicultural values, the ability to advocate for the Social Work program and the university, and familiarity with Alaska Native or Indigenous communities.
• Experience teaching or developing distance-delivered or online coursework.
• Evidence of a commitment to public service and community collaboration consistent with the mission of the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Pay

$50,000 - $100,000 per year (depending on qualifications)

Schedule

Full-time, 9-month appointment.
