About the role
Bethany Christian Services is a non-profit organization working across 29 states to support children, foster families, and refugees. The Case Manager role involves providing culturally sensitive case management services to unaccompanied children seeking family reunification, supporting older youth preparing for adulthood, and assisting foster families.
Responsibilities
- Provide culturally sensitive case management services to unaccompanied children during the defined timeframe from their arrival to the United States;
- Maintain up-to-date information in client files as required by stakeholders (ORR and State Licensing);
- Ensure delivery of services as described in partner organizations' handbook and contractual agreement;
- Complete paperwork within appropriate time frames based on contract guidelines;
- Attend weekly meetings with supervisor to consult on cases, and to review case plan and direction;
- Attend weekly and monthly internal staff meetings with stakeholders to review case plan and direction;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support the sponsorship process for minors reunifying with identified sponsors, including scheduling and leading weekly reunification staffing meetings;
- Oversee the intake and discharge processes for clients entering and exiting the program in collaboration with internal treatment team;
- Meet with clients weekly and provide transportation to clients, as needed;
- Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services;
- Work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
- Work a flexible schedule which may include evening airport arrivals and weekend home visits, when necessary;
- Use computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Have a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
- Pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
- Pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill the essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident;
- Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization;
- Show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route: Varicella, MMR, TDap/Tdap, Influenza.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, or a Social Sciences field from an accredited college;
- Master’s level degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field of study from an accredited college, preferred;
- At least one (1) year of experience in social work with child welfare and/or case management, preferred;
- Bilingual: English and a second language, preferred;
- Sensitivity in communicating and developing cross-cultural relationships;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Be a team player and highly collaborative;
- Demonstrate clinical, therapeutic, and crisis intervention skills;
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule which may include evening airport arrivals and weekend home visits, when necessary;
