About the role

Tyler Union is seeking an Environmental Specialist for the 2nd shift operations. The ideal candidate will utilize expertise in environmental science and engineering to develop solutions, implement programs, and maintain procedures and programs to minimize environmental risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures personal and team safety by wearing appropriate PPE and promoting The McWane Way principles.
  • Develops and implements compliance strategies to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Operates and maintains air pollution control equipment, stormwater monitoring equipment, and other environmental projects.
  • Maintains an effective environmental management system and assesses environmental risks.
  • Calculates potential-to-emit calculations for air permit applications and modifications.
  • Conducts storm water sampling according to EPA standards and interprets data to ensure compliance.
  • Interprets and applies RCRA and DOT rules.
  • Prepares technical documentation and reports for regulatory agencies and management.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to address environmental issues.
  • Reports unsafe conditions and incidents promptly to management.
  • Encourages employee involvement in environmental process changes and improvements.
  • Directs hourly employees in completing environmental-related job duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or related field.
  • One year of relevant experience and/or training, with environmental experience required.
  • Experience with conducting environmental audits, assessing potential exposure, and determining corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of RCRA and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Problem-solving mathematical skills to address environmental issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships within the organization.
