About the role

This position is for a forward-thinking accounting professional ready to move beyond traditional compliance and into a trusted advisory capacity. The role responds to the industry's critical shift from "historian to futurist," as outlined by the AICPA & CIMA Rise2040 initiative, and addresses the urgent talent challenges facing UK small and medium-sized practices (SMPs). We are seeking someone who can leverage technology as an amplifier for high-value work, helping our firm and its MSME clients navigate regulatory pressure, digital adoption, and strategic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver scenario planning, carbon reporting, and high-value advisory work to a diverse portfolio of local businesses.
  • Interpret financial data to provide human-centric, commercially minded guidance, moving beyond backward-looking statutory audits and pristine tax returns.
  • Actively engage with and adopt generative AI tools and advanced data analytics platforms to enhance efficiency and insight.
  • Build and maintain direct, relationship-driven client partnerships, serving as a "trust architect" and "anticipatory advisor."
  • Contribute to the firm's cultural and strategic pivot by demonstrating agility, tech-literacy, and decisive leadership.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to think critically, act ethically, and lead decisively in a client-facing accounting role.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong willingness to move beyond compliance processing into commercial navigation and strategic advice.
  • Tech-literacy with a proactive attitude toward adopting generative AI, data analytics, and modern accounting infrastructure.
  • Ability to work across diverse sectors and provide breadth of experience to MSME clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on human-centric relationships over transactional processing.

Skills

  • Critical thinking and interpretive judgment for translating data into actionable client strategy.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to see direct impact on local business performance.
  • Adaptability and openness to change, actively resisting institutional inertia.
  • Clear communication of complex financial insights to non-specialist business owners.
  • Familiarity with UK regulatory landscape for small and medium-sized practices.
