About the role

Olympic College is continuously recruiting for an Instruction & Classroom Support Tech - Tutor position that may occur throughout the year for various departments. This part-time position supports students in developing abilities in disciplines based on student needs, including Biology, Chemistry, Composition, Engineering, English, Languages, Mathematics, and Writing. Part-time positions are reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis and are open continuously. Applicants remain active in the pool for 12 months from the application date.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support for students in one or more non-STEM related subject areas.
  • Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings.
  • Help students interpret discipline-specific problems and situations.
  • Assist students in clarifying critical thinking and/or communication skills.
  • Support students working in an online format.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Requirements

  • Reference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student.
  • High School Graduate, Equivalent, or Current Running Start Student.
  • Completion of course(s) to be tutored with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or higher.
  • Basic computer competency.

Pay

$20.49 - $27.28 per hour.

Schedule

Up to 18 hours per week. Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits and 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement.

Additional Information

  • Only candidates currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered; visa sponsorship is not available.

  • The employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus.
  • Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
