Tutor Refugees and Immigrants for Citizenship

Description

Many refugees and immigrants in the community face significant barriers to preparing for the U.S. citizenship process, including limited transportation, childcare, and access to traditional classes. These challenges can prevent them from understanding the naturalization process, preparing for the citizenship interview, and building the confidence they need to pass the exam.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring within participants' homes
• Break down barriers and offer support in a comfortable, supportive environment
• Equip participants with the skills and information necessary to pass the U.S. citizenship test
• Offer a deeper understanding of rights, responsibilities, and place in their new community

Requirements

Training sessions for new volunteers are starting soon. No prior experience is required.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn and adapt to different learning styles
• Comfortable working with diverse populations
• Flexible schedule to accommodate tutoring sessions
