Job Summary

The Aloe Family, a nonprofit organization based in Nashville, TN, is seeking a Part-Time Homework Help Tutor to provide academic support to students in need.

Responsibilities

• Lead volunteers in one-on-one or small group tutoring to students in various subjects, including but not limited to math, science, English, and social studies.
• Aid students with understanding homework assignments, concepts, and materials.
• Record and submit accurate attendance records of students and volunteers.
• Prepare daily activities (this involves making copies of worksheets or pulling out games that are provided).
• Conduct Volunteer orientation for new volunteers.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment conducive to academic success.
• Collaborate with other tutors and staff to ensure consistent support and coordination of services.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Attend regular staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.

Qualifications

• Background in education, nonprofit, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• College degree, or pursuit of college degree in progress.
• Prior experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly in homework help and academic support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and varying skill levels.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed academically.
• Reliable and punctual with a commitment to meeting scheduled tutoring times.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Spanish Language skills preferred

Schedule and Compensation

• 8-10 hours per week
• 16 hours the week of summer camp (June 22 - 25, 1 - 5pm)
• $17 / hr.
