Tutor Module 7: Biology (East)
Essential Functions
Tutors provide one-on-one and small group tutoring support, subject-specific content strategies, assist with the maintenance of accurate records, complete necessary paperwork, and assist with the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials.
Required Qualifications
- Education consistent with the department needs and minimum of an associate’s degree in a related field of study
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence in the subject matter
- Ability to explain concepts to others effectively
- Ability to multitask with varying levels of students and subject material
- Ability to communicate with faculty regarding expectations of students, assignments, attendance at tutoring sessions, and work completed
- Ability to effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success
- Patient and positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively
- Working knowledge of administrative and scheduling concepts, practices, and procedures
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of the community

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
Set-Rate Non-Bargaining Part-Time Position
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $18.21/ hour.
Special Note
If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1.
