Location: Eastern Campus • Reports to: Program Manager, Assessment & Testing • Part-Time Support Staff • Non-Union

About the Role

The Business Tutor works directly with students, either one-on-one or in small group sessions, aiming to foster independent learning and help students achieve their academic goals.

Topics covered include:

  • Business and Marketing terminology
  • Business concepts
  • Local and global markets

Relevant course knowledge should include:

  • Intro to Business
  • Project Management
  • Small Business Management
  • Logistics Management
  • Business Communications

Responsibilities

  • Provides one-on-one and small group tutoring support
  • Offers subject-specific content strategies tailored to different learning styles and preferences to help students understand key concepts
  • Assists with the use of equipment and learning materials needed for student success
  • Conducts “class visits” and assists with publicizing the College’s tutoring services
  • Maintains accurate records in accordance with stated deadlines
  • Completes all necessary paperwork accurately and according to stated deadlines
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Education consistent with department needs and minimum of an associate’s degree in a related field of study

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The role typically involves:

  • Sitting comfortably to perform duties, including repetitive motions with hands/fingers (e.g., using a computer mouse and keyboard)
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, and books
  • Travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite, which may require additional walking and standing

Pay

$18.21 per hour

Schedule

Schedule varies based on the needs of the department. Flexible hours available (days, evenings, weekends). The supervisor will work with the selected candidate to set a schedule designed to support departmental demands.
