About the Role

The Accounting Tutor works directly with students, either one-on-one or in small group sessions, aiming to foster independent learning and help students achieve their academic goals.

Topics covered include ledgers, preparing income taxes, preparing financial statements, and cost analysis. Relevant course knowledge may include:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Cost Accounting
  • CPA Review

Responsibilities

  • Provides one-on-one and small group tutoring support.
  • Offers subject-specific content strategies tailored to different learning styles and preferences to help students understand key concepts.
  • Assists students with the use of equipment and learning materials.
  • Conducts “class visits” and assists with publicizing the College’s tutoring services.
  • Maintains accurate records and completes necessary paperwork according to deadlines.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience/Training: Education consistent with department needs and a minimum of an associate’s degree in a related field of study.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform duties, including repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard.
  • May involve walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, and books.
  • Work may require travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.

Pay

Set rate of pay: $18.21/hour.

Schedule

Schedule to be determined by department needs.

Note: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of the Western Campus to respond to onsite work demands.
