Grant-funded part-time position with Upward Bound at Central College.
Responsibilities
- Tutor developmental math and workforce students in any in-person setting.
- Tutor college-level transfer courses using the supplemental instruction model.
- Ask and answer academic questions, demonstrating subject-specific examples.
- Provide analytic and diagnostic services to improve student affective outcomes.
- Process new students to ensure their learning needs are met.
- Provide required academic support services throughout the semester.
- Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials.
- May tutor in other developmental areas under supervision of a Tutor II or Faculty Tutor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; some college credit hours preferred.
- Must have completed at least one college course in the subject area being tutored with a grade of A.
- One year of work experience in a post-secondary institution tutoring setting preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a large multicultural environment.
- Well-organized, task-oriented, and flexible.
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
