This is an in-person position at the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard Academy, New London, CT 06320.

Schedule

• Sunday–Thursday, 7:00 PM–10:00 PM
• 15+ hours per week

Pay

$32–35 per hour based upon qualifications and experience.

Subjects

• Mathematics: Pre-Calculus, Calculus I & II, Probability and Statistics (Non-Calculus Based)
• Data Analysis and Computing: Data Analysis & Visualization, Principles of Programming, Tools for Business Intelligence (using Microsoft Suite and Python)
• Science: Chemistry I, Physics I
• Engineering: Statistics and principles/concepts of engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in a field closely related to the tutoring subject
• At least one year of experience teaching or working with faculty and students in higher education
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English

Responsibilities

• Deliver small-group tutoring sessions using provided curriculum and technology in collaboration with the professor
• Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment
• Tailor teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and needs

Requirements

• Complete fingerprinting within 48 hours of offer
• Pass FBI/DOJ background check
• Provide 3 professional references
• Minimum one year of student-related experience
• Detail-oriented and highly reliable
• Strong communication skills
• Reliable transportation
• Provide a negative TB test within 2 weeks of hire
