About the role

Compass Bridge Academy serves the Evergreen/Silver Creek communities in San Jose. We are an education/learning center tutoring afterschool students ranging from 1st to 12th grade. We are looking for instructors to guide and support students in building strong study habits, identifying learning challenges and knowledge gaps, and assisting with homework and test preparation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a class for Elementary, Middle (mostly), and High school students in a small group setting (5-8 kids).
• Guide, coach, and help students understand academic concepts.

Requirements

• Cheerful, passionate, positive, punctual, interactive, and active personality.
• Must enjoy being with children and be able to interact and engage with them.
• Must be proficient in Math (up to Algebra 1 level) and Academic English concepts.
• Open to college students, college graduates, teaching credential program attendees, or aspiring future teachers.
• Not open to high school students.
• Long-term commitment required (minimum 1 school year).

Schedule

Typical working hours: Monday to Thursday, 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM (hours may vary slightly).

Pay

$19.00 - $22.00 per hour.
